Festivals are meant to celebrate altogether, dressed up nicely, eating good food and most especially gathering under one roof. Every festival has its own importance, its own rituals and style of celebrating.
Muslims has two big festivals one is Eid al Fitr (celebrated after holy month of Ramadan) and 2nd is Eid al Adha (celebrated in the last Islamic month after performing Hajj). Eid al Adha is a very important festival for Muslims around the world. Eid al Adha, “the festival of sacrifice”, marks the completion of Hajj. A day of celebration, contemplation and remembrance of the Prophets. It reminds them Prophet Ibrahim willingness of sacrificing his son when ordered by the God. According to Mulims God appeared to Ibrahim in a dream and asked him to sacrifice his son Isma'il as an act of obedience. As Ibrahim was about to kill his son, God stopped him and gave him a lamb to sacrifice in his place. This shows Ibrahim's obedience to God. It is important for Muslims to remember that God does not want the animal or its meat; God wants Muslims to show that they are devoted to him.
In Eid al Adha, Muslims sacrifice the animals to remember the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim. The meat is divided into three parts. One for the poor people who are in need of the food, one for relatives and one for one who is performing sacrifice. In this way, all the poor people get plenty of meat to cook for some period.
This beautiful festival is celebrated all around the world. Not only Mulims but non-muslims also celebrate this colorful festival and enjoy fresh and delicious meat.
